An organisation of five to twenty people has a website, email, booking or ticketing software, two or three suppliers, and nobody whose job it is to keep the whole thing running. The subject lands on the director, or on whoever is most at ease with computers, between two other tasks. Decisions get made when a supplier chases, access is scattered, and the day something breaks, someone has to work out who did what.
The fractional digital direction puts one person in that seat, a few days a month, with a clear responsibility: the organisation's digital side holds, it is documented, and you know at any moment what it costs and what it depends on. This is not a maintenance contract. Maintenance fixes what breaks; here, we also decide what to buy, what to stop, and what to ask of suppliers.
The work is done in your accounts and in your name. The domain name, hosting, subscriptions and backups belong to you and stay that way. What you keep at the end: an up-to-date inventory of everything that makes up your system, access centralised in your name, written procedures for routine operations, and the history of decisions. A successor, an employee or another supplier can take over without starting from scratch.
The price is set in the written note that follows the first call, according to the number of days per month. The first commitment is three months; after that the engagement runs month by month with one month's notice.
What you get
- One person for everything digital: website, hosting, domain names, email, business tools, suppliers. You stop having to choose between three quotes you cannot compare.
- Two to three days a month, spread according to the season: more before opening, less at the height of summer. The rhythm is set in the written note and reviewed every three months.
- A thirty-minute weekly check-in with you or your deputy, with a three-line written summary: what was done, what is blocked, what gets decided next week.
- Day-to-day administration taken care of: updates, verified backups, renewals, content corrections, small developments. Anything larger than a month's work is priced separately, before it starts.
- Your suppliers followed up in your name: their quotes read, what they deliver checked, their commitments on accessibility and deadlines held.
- Documentation kept in your tools and your accounts, never in mine: access, configurations, procedures, decisions and their reasons. The day the engagement ends, it stays with you.
How it runs
First month: taking stock
Inventory of what exists, access recovered in your name, a reference backup, a list of urgent items and upcoming renewals. By the end of the month you know what you own and who holds what.
Following months: the rhythm
The weekly check-in sets the priorities, the days of the month carry them out. Every decision is written down with its reason, every change is documented before it counts as done.
Every three months: the review
One page: what changed, what it costs, what remains to be done, and what you could take back in-house. The engagement continues, shrinks or stops on that basis, with one month's notice.
