Philippe Baret

Websites, development, content and strategy

Trained in law and journalism, Philippe Baret has thirty years of practice where digital, strategy and content production meet. He works from Varna, Bulgaria, with standing relationships in Eastern European digital agencies.

He has worked for public institutions (the French government's official publications office, reporting to the Prime Minister), media outlets (Ouest-France, RTL, PokerNews), an online learning platform (OpenClassrooms), local authorities and private companies, in France and across Europe.

In practice, he takes charge of a small organisation's website end to end: day-to-day management, urgent repairs when something breaks, custom development (including connecting an online payment service), content production.

He also advises management on the questions that go beyond the site: what to do about artificial intelligence, how to keep control of your own IT and stay on the right side of security obligations, how to make the site earn money through sales or affiliate revenue. He takes a particular interest in organisations running several channels with no common base, in simple and fast websites that depend on no supplier, in low energy use and in accessibility.

This dual training, law and journalism, backed by daily technical practice, is what gave rise to Hyperlecture. The idea is simple: treat code, content and strategy as one subject, where it would otherwise take three suppliers who never talk to each other. At Hyperlecture, low energy use and accessibility are the starting rule, not an option added later.
